Terms of service
Last updated October 14, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Lurinth, Inc. ("we", "us"), the maker of DatingHalo. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use DatingHalo.
1. Who can use DatingHalo
You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your password private. Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
2. Safety features have limits
Date mode, live location, "come get me", the home-safe check-in and the fake call depend on your phone, its battery, network and location settings, notification permissions, our servers, and whether your friends see and act on what you send. Any of these can fail or be delayed. These features are a way to keep your friends in the loop; they do not replace emergency services, and nobody at DatingHalo monitors your dates.
3. Registry checks
- Registry checks search public sex-offender registries through a third-party public-records provider. Registries can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and names are shared by many people.
- A "no match" does not mean a person is safe, and a match may be a different person with the same name. Always confirm with the official registry before relying on a result.
- We are not a consumer reporting agency, and results are not consumer reports. You may not use DatingHalo or its results to make decisions about anyone's employment, housing, credit, insurance or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Never use a result to harass, threaten, shame or harm anyone. Misusing registry information can be a crime.
- Checks are limited to 25 per account per day.
4. Information about other people
Your roster can hold information about people you're dating. You're responsible for what you add. Only add information you obtained lawfully and have a right to use, keep it to what helps you date safely, and don't post private information about someone (such as their address, phone number or photos) to your circle in a way that would humiliate or endanger them.
5. Rules for using DatingHalo
You agree not to:
- Stalk, harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone, or use the app to track someone without their knowledge.
- Share anyone else's location, or create an account for someone else.
- Post content that's illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights, or any intimate image of another person.
- Impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, overload or try to break into the app or our systems, or get around limits like the daily registry-check cap.
- Use DatingHalo for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
We may remove content or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a limited license to store, display and process it only to run DatingHalo for you and the friends you share it with. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept in backups for a short period or where the law requires us to keep them.
7. Our app
DatingHalo, its design and its software belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app as these terms allow. We may change, pause or stop features, and we'll try to give notice of major changes.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if we have to by law. Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.
9. Disclaimers
DatingHalo is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the app, its safety features or registry results will be accurate, uninterrupted, timely or error-free, or that anyone you meet is safe.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Lurinth, Inc. and its officers, employees and partners won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your dates, your interactions with other people, a feature failing or being delayed, or a registry result. Our total liability for any claim relating to DatingHalo is limited to US$100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
11. Indemnity
You agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, if a claim is brought against us because of content you added, your misuse of the app or registry results, or your breaking these terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it informally. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring the claim in your local courts.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is meaningful, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using DatingHalo after that, you accept the new terms.
14. App stores
If you downloaded DatingHalo from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and those stores' own terms also apply. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
